What's a CDFA®?

CDFA® stands for Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. A CDFA® is here to help both client and lawyer understand how the financial decisions made today will impact the client's financial future, based on certian assumptions. The analysis may be for couples or on an individual basis.

CDFA® provides the client and lawyer with data that shows the long-term and short-term financial effect of any proposed divorce settlement. 

CDFA® may appear as an expert witness if the case should go to court, mediation or arbitration proceedings.

CDFA® is familiar with tax issues that may apply to divorce.

CDFA® has background knowledge of the legal issues that may arise in divorce. The CDFA®may work with legal counsel to provide indepth financial reports prepared for the client.

A CDFA® is someone who comes from a financial, accounting or legal background and goes through an intensive training program to become skilled in analyzing and providing expertise related to the financial issues of divorce.
